We're passionate about fashion. so it's no surprise that we want to promote and support the Canadian fashion industry. To do this, we help new designers, entrepreneurs and students develop creative and business skills to survive and thrive in the challenging but rewarding world of fashion. Want to start your own business? We can help! Our members and alumni have the knowledge and attitude to succeed.
So how does the TFI help a budding fashion entrepreneur? We start by offering a nurturing environment where you and others like you can learn the "business" of fashion from people who have been there and by providing you with the resources and tools you'll need to get ahead. Because we recognize the different needs you'll have at different stages in your fashion business or career, we offer two ways of joining the TFI: Outreach and Resident.
OUTREACH: Want to start a fashion business, but not sure where to begin? Start with us! Anyone can join the TFI as an Outreach member. It's a great way for new fashion designers, small business owners, start-ups and fashion students to get the inside information they need about the fashion industry.. RESIDENT: Ready for the next step? Want a nurturing, creative, co-operative work environment where you can get your business off the ground? We work hand-in-hand with new designers to help them get their businesses up and running. As a TFI Resident, you'll get semi-private studio space, access to industrial equipment, mentoring and consultations with TFI staff and experienced industry professionals and exclusive promotional opportunities. The TFI is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, advised by an Advisory Committee and staffed by the Executive Director and Executive Assistant.
