Toronto Fashion Incubator's annual design contest "New Label" has a special theme this year: contestants are to create three little black dresses inspired by Barbie®. For a 50-year-old matron, she certainly has staying power.

Even David Dixon did a full Fall 2009 collection inspired by this controversial doll. Dixon's version is more Lipstick Jungle than the Malibu Barbie, however.

The clothes are wearable and ladylike-pretty and there are no sequined, belly-baring tube tops in sight. His Barbie Capsule collection is available at the Bay now.
