2. Hello Goodbye

On May 31, TFI welcomed new business development manager Elaine Stadnyk. Stadnyk is a graduate from Ryerson University’s Fashion Design and Merchandising program and has over 30 years of experience as a retail buyer for specialty chains and department stores including Marks & Spencer, Eaton’s, Winners and The Bay. She started her career as a model and teaching coordinator at Eleanor Fulcher Modeling School and went on to pursue her career in the fashion industry. As a buyer, she has bought everything from footwear and accessories to lingerie and ladies and men’s sportswear, under national brands, collections and private label. Her diverse knowledge encompasses a number of areas including product development, international sourcing, vendor relationships, marketing strategies and strategic planning. At TFI, Stadnyk’s key responsibility is to generate revenue through sponsorships, memberships, sales, events and rentals.

Before the end of summer, TFI will bid adieu to two resident members, Jessica Rose from a Resurrection of Romance and Amanda Brugel from The Red Carpet Room. Rose will be continuing her knitwear and dress collections from another location and Brugel, an actor who has appeared in film and television, will be focusing on her acting career. Both Rose and Brugel moved into the TFI in August 2009.

For those interested in leasing a TFI studio, please contact Elaine Stadnyk at 416.971.7117 ext. 30.

Amanda Lew Kee’s Dark Chic Debut
On May 31, a small group of supporters clustered together in the hot and humid café of the Great Hall for a presentation of the debut collection of Amanda Lew Kee. Lew Kee’s all-black collection of womenswear displayed a strong vision for a first-timer. Her show opened with a short film by up-and-coming fashion photographer Felix Wong that depicted a model posed in the clothing while moving among black balloons. After the mini-movie, live models entered the space and streamed against the wall. The collection, which featured leather, chiffon with bold shoulders and scatterings of metal spike decals, had a dark, edgy, yet sexy feel.
