FAREN TAMI OF FAREN CROWNED WINNER OF TFI NEW LABELS® COMPETITION

Toronto – April 28, 2009 – This past weekend, four of Canada’s hottest young designers showed their best at the 2009 Annual TFI New Labels® Competition. As part of the ELLE Show, this year’s gala drew a crowd of almost 600 fashionable supporters. Cheryl Gushue, Jody McMillan, Sonja den Elzen and Faren Tami brought innovation and a powerful creative force to their collections and the legendary Carlu buzzed with excitement.

After a difficult deliberation by noteworthy competition judges Nathalie Atkinson (Style & Culture Columnist, National Post), David Dixon (Designer, David Dixon Inc.), Teresa Isabella (Design Director, Bluenotes), Peter Papapetrou (Stylist & Fashion Director, Lush magazine) and Rita Silvan (Editor-In-Chief, ELLE Canada), a winner emerged from the pack:

With her dramatic collection inspired by the futuristic aesthetic of eco-friendly architecture, Faren Tami of Faren was announced the winner of the ELLE Canada New Labels® Fashion Award 2009, a grand prize package valued at $25,000!
