About Sylvia Bora

Where were you born?
I was born near the largest fresh water lake in Europe, called Lake Balaton, in the resort town of Keszthely in Hungary.

Did you go to college or university? If yes, which one and what did you study?
B.A. Degree in Marketing Communication and Economics and Fashion Design degree completed with honours from the prestigious International Academy of Design and Technology.

Have you worked in the fashion industry before joining the Resident program? If yes, where? What did you do?
I gained a lot of knowledge through an apprenticeship at high-end designer Joeffer Caoc, where I started as an intern during my studies. Other experiences include work at the fashion design studio Greta Constantine, costume design assistant at a theatre company, and I designed unique patterns and made illustrations at a well-known trend forecasting and design company.

Who’s your favourite international designer and why?
I love Donna Karan's works; she was my favourite childhood designer. I also love Galliano and Prada, they always come up with something new and unique. And Michael Kors for the classic look. But I love them all.

What do you never leave home without?
My iPod.

Favourite vacation hot spot?
The island of Guadeloupe in the French Caribbean.

Favourite movies?
Ice Age and/or Madagascar.

Favourite hobby?
Downhill skiing

Other faves?
I love my morning coffee.

Which do you prefer: Twitter or Facebook?
Facebook, if I have time.

Follow your dreams and work very hard.

To be able to work in a professional environment with the mentorship of industry professionals is an invaluable opportunity for a fashion designer who wants to reach the next level. I would love to have my brand and design company reach international recognition through the years to come.
